NJPW G1 Climax – Night 4 (15/7/19) Review

1)   Shota Umino & Yota Tsuji vs Jushin Thunder Liger & “The Golden Star” Kota Ibushi

Winners: Ibushi & Liger after Tsuji went for a Boston Crab on Ibushi, Kota blasted Yota with multiple Slaps to the face, breaking the hold and the men went face to face. Yota Slapped Kota, causing him to fire up, nail Tsuji with a Rolling Solebutt followed by a hard Kick to the chest and then a Standing Moonsault and the cover, which Shota broke up. Liger entered the ring, threw Umino to the floor and followed with a Somersault Senton off the apron, as Ibushi hit the ropes and threw a kick at Tsuji, who blocked the kick and hit the ropes, only for Ibushi to level him with a Lariat and then lock in a DEEP Single Leg Crab, forcing Tsuji to Tap Out.

Liger promo, talking about retiring in January and possibly being the last time performing in this venue.

2)   Six Man Tag match: Los Ingobernables de Japon (“The King of Darkness” EVIL, “Cold Skull” SANADA & BUSHI) vs Ren Narita, Toa Henare & Tomoaki Honma

Winners: LIJ after Narita dumped BUSHI with a Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex, he held BUSHI in position, as both Henare & Honma connected with Kokeshis to BUSHI, and transitioned into a Scorpion Deathlock, as Honma & Henare took out the other members of LIJ. BUSHI was able to get to the ropes, breaking the hold, but Narita stayed on his, fighting him into the corner and sending him across, charging in, only for BUSHI to move and EVIL & SANADA to rush in with Avalanches in the corner, followed by a Running Double Knee from BUSHI, EVIL scored with a Thrust Kick, SANADA followed with a kick and BUSHI hit a Back Cracker and covered, but Henare broke it up. EVIL threw Henare out of the ring, SANADA got rid of Honma, as BUSHI positioned in the corner and as Ren staggered to his feet, BUSHI connected with MX and covered for the 3.

EVIL and SANADA have a great stare-down, hyping their upcoming G1 match. SANADA starts to leave, EVIL hooks for Everything is Evil, but SANADA counters and locks in Skull End, but EVIL escapes and they stare-down again.

3)   Eight Man Tag match: Suzuki-Gun (Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr, “The King” Minoru Suzuki, Lance Archer & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs KENTA, Karl Fredericks, Clark Connors & “The Ace of the Universe” Hiroshi Tanahashi

Winners: Suzuki-Gun after Suzuki dropped Clark with a Headbutt, Karl nailed Minoru with an elbow, as KENTA and Archer fought on the floor, Minoru pulled Karl into a Rear Naked Choke, as Zack used a Dragon Screw on Hiroshi and locked in a Heel Hook. Archer applied The EBD Claw on KENTA, as Clark fought off Yoshinobu and hit the ropes, only to eat a big Dropkick, Kanemaru followed with a Reverse DDT and covered for 2, before going to the corner and hitting The Deep Impact to get the pin.

4)  Bullet Club (“The Rogue General” Bad Luck Fale & “The Crown Jewel” Chase Owens) vs CHAOS (IWGP Heavyweight Champion “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI)

Winners: CHAOS after Owens attempted a Package Piledriver on Okada, Okada fought his way out of and leveled Chase with a Dropkick, putting him in position for Okada to go to the top and follow with a big Flying Elbow Drop. Okada called for the end, hitting The Rainmaker Pose, before pulling Chase up and scoring with The Rainmaker and covering for the 3.

5)   G1 Climax – B Block: “The Dragon” Shingo Takagi (0) vs Toru Yano (2)

Winner: Shingo (2) after Yano pushed Shingo into the Referee, he grabbed a Chair and threw it to Shingo, before grabbing the Referee and telling him Shingo used the Chair. As the Referee questioned Shingo, BUSHI ran down to explain, distracting the Referee and allowing Shingo to throw the Chair into Yano’s face and follow with The Pumping Bomber and the pin.

6)  G1 Climax – B Block: Juice Robinson (2) vs Hirooki Goto (2)

Winner: Juice (2) after Juice caught Goto’s kick and elbowed the knee, before throwing The Left Hand to God, which Goto countered with a Headbutt to the hand! Goto throws a punch, but Juice blocks it with a Headbutt of his own, before crushing into Goto’s chest with a Thrust Headbutt, followed with The Left Hand to God and Pulp Friction to pull off the big win!

7)   G1 Climax – B Block: IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley (2) w/Shota Umino vs Jeff Cobb (0)

Winner: Moxley (2) after Cobb rolled to the apron, Moxley pulled him up by the hair and hooked for a Suplex, only for Cobb to overpower him and lift Moxley, crotching him on the top. Cobb knocked Moxley to the apron and hooked for a German Suplex, first on the apron and then turning and positioning for a German off the apron, Moxley fought out of it, but Cobb drilled him with a Clothesline, taking Mox into the ring. Cobb started to enter the ring, only for Moxley to score with The Regal Knee to Cobb’s head and followed with a Draping Death Rider to pick up the victory.

8)   G1 Climax – B Block: “Switchblade” Jay White (0) w/Gedo vs NEVER Openweight Champion “The Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii (2)

Winner: Ishii (2) after White planted Ishii with a nasty Sleeper Suplex, he pulled him up, looking for Blade Runner, only for Ishii to counter and throw White with a desperation German Suplex. Both men were down, feeling the punishment of this battle, with the crowd clapping them on and pulled themselves up in opposite corners. Ishii charged in, White got a boot up, but Ishii responded with a Clothesline and hit the ropes, looking for a Lariat, but White countered and nailed Ishii with a Chop, which fired him up, White continued with a series of strikes, punctuated by 2 big Elbow strikes. White hit the ropes, Ishii leveled him with a Lariat and called for the end, following with a big Folding Powerbomb for a CLOSE 2. Ishii took a little time, before hitting the ropes for the Sliding Lariat, only for White to pancake down to the mat, Ishii landed big elbows to White’s face and started towards the ropes, only for White to grab his leg, as Gedo got on the apron and distracted the Referee and Ishii. White recovered and quickly went for Blade Runner, Ishii countered out and scored with an Enziguri, before hitting the ropes, White sat down, so Ishii hit the opposite ropes and scored with a Sliding Lariat and covered for a 2. Ishii went for The Vertical Drop Brainbuster, but White countered out and lifted Ishii into Tombstone position, before transitioning him into Blade Runner, only for Ishii to counter with a Flatliner! Ishii fired up and MURDERED White with a Lariat, covering for a 2, before ripping White into the air and dumping him with The Vertical Drop Brainbuster, following with the pin. (DAMN! This was crazy good.)

9)   G1 Climax – B Block: IWGP Intercontinental Champion Testuya Naito (0) vs TAICHI (0) w/Miho Abe

Winner: TAICHI (2) after TAICHI threw a Thrust Kick, which Natio caught and countered with a Release German Suplex, TAICHI fired up and nailed Naito with a Big Boot, before sending him into the ropes and then pulling Referee Red Shoes in the path of Naito’s Flying Forearm and both went down. Naito checked on the Ref, as Kanemaru got on the apron for The Santori Surprise, only for Naito to cover Kanemaru’s mouth and then use a Guillotine across the top rope to neutralize the attack, but TAICHI had put on the Iizuka Iron Glove and as Naito turned, TAICHI attacked, but Naito countered and scored with an Enziguri and then a NASTY Snow Plow and the cover, but the Referee was down! Naito released the pin and attempted to pull Red Shoes up, dragging him closer to TAICHI. Before pulling TAICHI up for Destino, which TAICHI escaped, threw an Axe Bomber, which Naito ducked and hit the ropes, to be stopped by a Superkick from TAICHI and the cover, getting a 2. Red Shoes rolled over in pain, with Kanemaru holding him down, as TAICHI put the Iron Glove back on and NAILED Naito with the Iron Fingers, followed by a BIG Last Ride Powerbomb and the Folding Pin, picking up THE HUGE VICTORY! (THIS FUCKING ROCKED!)
