ROH All Star Extravaganza 7 (18/09/15) Review

ROH Television Championship: Jay Lethal (c) (w/ Truth Martini) vs. Bobby Fish

Enjoyed the match and it was a very good way to open the PPV. I liked how Lethal was desperate to retain his first title by grabbing a handful of tights to win the match.

Silas Young vs. Dalton Castle

I so wanted Silas Young to lose and be one of Castles boys but Silas won and it will be Daltons boys being taught how to be real men.

The Briscoes open challenge I was intrigued to know who they would bring in for this open challenge . I wasn’t really expecting a current tag team from ROH. Firstly the decade came out but they just sat down next to Kevin Kelly and Steve Corino. Then the romantic touch came out but was thrown out by the Briscoes. Then the theme for The All Night Express started and out came Rhett Titus (so he WASN’T the romantic touch after all) and Kenny King. I wasn’t really impressed with King in TNA but he was good in this tag match that The All Night Express won.

Nice to see ANX come back to ROH as I feel the tag team division needed some extra teams.

Moose (w/ Stokely Hathaway) vs. Cedric Alexander (w/ Veda Scott) NO DQ Match

Really good No DQ match. Haven’t really been a fan of this stipulation in the past for ROH but this one worked perfectly because of the weapons involved. Veda Scott was in the ring at the end of the match and was hit with a kick from Alexander by accident. Hathaway then picked up the wrench and hit Alexander with it resulting in Moose hitting Alexander with a spear through a table for the win.

Matt Sydal vs ACH best of 5 series

This was match 3 of the series and they both have won a match each. It was a good competitive match that ACH won making it 2-1 to him but I would have liked to have seen the other matches on ROH TV to get into these matches.

ROH Tag Team Title Match: Champions The Addiction vs. The Kingdom w/Maria Kanellis vs. The Young Bucks

The KRD faction of the Addiction and Chris Sabin hasn’t really come to anything in my opinion. So I was glad The Kingdom won this match with the help of a red masked man that did Sabin manoeuvres.

#1 Contender’s Match: Michael Elgin vs. Adam Cole vs. Roderick Strong vs. AJ Styles

I don’t know if I’m the only one that thinks this but my god Michael Elgin should go back to Japan where he is more appreciated. Anyway, good match that resulted in AJ Styles hitting the Styles clash on Cole therefore becoming the no1 contender. I am amazed AJ Styles has never been ROH World Champion.

ROH World Title Match: Champion Jay Lethal w/Truth Martini vs. Kyle O’Reilly

I predicted shenanigans in this match and I was right but I got the wrestler involved wrong. I predicted Bobby Fish would cause Kyle O’Reilly to lose thus breaking up redragon and having some amazing matches in the months ahead. Should have known really that wasn’t going to happen with their spot on New Japan Pro Wrestling. Still a good finish though as it turned out to be Adam Cole that betrayed O’Reilly and it was revealed he was in cahoots with his best mates Michael Bennett and Matt Taven of the kingdom all along. Glad Jay Lethal retained the World Title and can’t wait for the World Title match with AJ Styles. Something to think about when this match does happen. Will AJ Styles become ROH World Champion in time for the shows ROH are going to do in Japan in 2016.

Overall this PPV entertained me. Some strong matches and new feuds formed and it will be interesting to see where they go from here.
