US Bi-Weekly Indy News Round-Up (01/03/16)

ROH wrapped up a very busy two weeks with its 14th Anniversary Show. A full recap can be found here, with the only notable news being that every title was successfully retained in fairly convincing manners. I encourage people however to check out their two Honor Rising shows from Japan, as they were fun shows to behold.

PWG announced that Tommy End would be unable to compete at All Star Weekend 12 due to injury. JT Dunn will be replacing him as Chris Hero’s tag partner and Marty Scurll’s opponent.

Shine Wrestling held Shine 33 this past Friday. Unfortunately I did not catch the event as it was on at the exact same time as the ROH/NJPW event (seriously, whoever made the call to book it the same night as that show and AAW really dropped the ball). No title changes took place, but it was made clear that Ivelissa earned a shot at Taylor Made’s Shine World Title, along with the looming Tag Team Title challenge by Kimber Bombs.

Smash Wrestling held it’s F8ful Eight Show and tag tournament this past weekend, with Well Oiled Machines (Pepper Parks & Psycho Mike) w/ Cherry Bomb winning the whole thing.

CHIKARA Pro wrapped up two events this past weekend with Evil Ways & Deadman’s Chest. Kimber Lee retained her Grand Championship and Thunder Frogger made his return to the promotion.

AAW’s latest event was the Art of War. Sami Callihan captured the AAW title from Eddie Kingston. Gargano & Ciampa vs. Hero & Gulak was said to be a sensational match while AR Fox’s successful title defense of the Heritage title was another standout match.
