UK Wrestling News Round-Up (4/4/16)

It was a sad time for British wrestling this past week as we all said goodbye to ‘The Shooting Star’ Kris Travis who has died of stomach cancer. I know everyone has their own stories about Travis and I’d just like to say that he was amazing to watch in the ring, talk to outside of it and will be missed dearly. My condolences go out to his family and friends who knew him well.

Fight Club: PRO’s next show will be “Planet Terror Vol. 2” and will take place from the Planet Nightclub, Wolverhampton on Friday, April 15th. The first match signed for the event will see Trent Seven taking on Zack Sabre Jr in singles action.

Main Event Wrestling will host their next show “4wayWar 2016” from the Innisfree Sports & Social Club, Longbenton, Newcastle Upon Tyne on Friday, May 13th. Noam Dar will be in singles competition with Kenny Williams and The Drake & Dragon (HT Drake & Micky The Dragon), Little Miss Roxxy, Lucy Cole, Prince Ameen & Liam Lazarus will all be in attendance.

News from Ultimate Pro Wrestling sees; Champion The Bruce defending his UPW Heavyweight Championship against Marty Scurll, ROH’s Donovan Dijak will face Charlie Garrett, Psycho Phillips takes on ‘Lord’ Gideon Grey in a #1 Contender’s match and ROH’s ACH battles Iestyn Rees. All this and more which includes ‘Portugal’s Perfect Athlete’ Shanna will take place at The Riviera Hotel, Weymouth on Friday, April 15th.

Infinite Promotions presented their “Live In Liverpool” event from The Dome, Grand Central Hall, Liverpool this past Friday where we saw; Jason Mason def. ‘Primate’ Jason Prime, Rampage Brown & Sam Bailey def. the team of Bert Fabulous & Nouseva Kotka, Kay Lee Ray def. Toni Storm, Kid Fite retained his UEWA European Cruiserweight Championship when he beat Kenny Williams & Nouseva Kotka, Frankie Sloan def. Dean MacManus and in the Main Event, Danny Hope def. Sam Adonis by disqualification to stay the Infinite Heavyweight Champion.

RISE will present their “Ascent” show this Friday, April 8th from the Aria Suite, Leeds, where we will crown the first RISE Champion through a HUGE 8-Man Tournament. Entrants for said tournament are; Jack Jester, ‘Primate’ Jason Prime, Big Joe Darwin, Danny O’Doherty, ‘Pastor’ William Eaver, Saxon Hurley, a surprise entrant who will be announced on the night and finally, Gene Munny, David Graves, Darius Lockhart, Michael Caden & HT Drake will all compete in a 5-Way Qualifying match for the last tournament spot. In non-tournament action we will see Nina Samuels take on Dragonita with Little Miss Roxxy acting as the special referee.

Target Wrestling will celebrate their “Third Anniversary” from The Venue, Carlisle this Friday, April 8th with a fantastic card for all the fans to enjoy as we’ll see; Martin Kirby, Alexander Henry, James Scott & The Coyote Kid face off in a Fatal 4-Way match, TW Tag Team Champion GT Gunn will take on Luchador legend Juventud Guerrera, TW Tag Team Champion Chris Renfrew will be in action against Eddie Kingston, The Proven (Caz Crash & Sam Wilder) will take on Havok & Karnage and ROH World Champion Jay Lethal will face TW Champion Shady Nattrass is a Champion vs Champion – Winner Takes All match.

BWE: British Wrestling Entertainment’s next show “The Battle Of Belle Isle” comes to us this Saturday, April 9th from the Belle Isle WMC, Leeds and will feature your; BWE Champion ‘Primate’ Jason Prime, BWE Bombshells Champion Ruby Summers, Australia’s favourite export Toni Storm, ‘The Armbar Superstar’ Dan James, JG Nash, Liam Lazarus, Ace Matthews, Sexy Kev & the debut of the self proclaimed ‘Richest Man In Professional Wrestling’ Prince Ameen. They’ll also be holding a minute silence in remembrance of ‘The Shooting Star’ Kris Travis.

In Empress Pro news they have now signed their first three matches for their “Every Time I Die” event which takes place from the Art4Every1, High Wycombe on Saturday, May 14th. We will get to see Kira Fox face Kay Lee Ray in one of the #EPI2016 Semi-Final matches and Xia Brookside will take on Toni Storm in the other one. We will also see Addy Starr go toe-to-toe with Rhia O’Reilly in what will be a No DQ, Fans Bring The Weapons match and the debut of Little Miss Roxxy.

Glasgow Pro Wrestling Asylum hosted their 2nd “A Night At The Asylum” show from The Asylum, Glasgow this past Friday where the fans were treated to some awesome wrestling. What happened on the night saw; The Purge def. Square Go! Holder Wolfgang & Stevie James, Jack Jester def. Khifie West, Lionheart & Irving Garrett def. Kyle Khaos & Austin Osiris, the ICW Zero-G Champion Davey Boy & Kasey Owens def. the team of Red Lightning & Molly Spartan, Kez Evans & Jack Dillon def. Twinsanity, Flex Hunter def. Soldato, The Sam Barbour Experience def. Ravie Davie and BT Gunn def. CS Rose in the Main Event of the evening.

Kamikaze Pro will present “Dojo Live!” from the Rubery Social Club & Institute, Birmingham on Sunday, April 10th as we’ll see; Marshall X vs Omari, Travis Banks vs Liam Doyle, Tag Team Champion Jim Hunter vs Mika, Tag Team Champion Lee Hunter vs Elliott Jordan and an Open Challenge from the team of Shelly & Palmer.

At “Sky’s The Limit 3” which will be held at The Cadbury Club, Bournville, Birmingham on Friday, April 29th we will see former 2 time TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong in singles competition with ‘Portugal’s Perfect Athlete’ Shanna and Pete Dunne will team with Andrew Everett to take on The Bigger Picture (Champion Robbie X & Relentless Division Champion Ryan Smile). Plus former WWE superstar Gangrel will be in attendance.

Pro Wrestling Chaos have announced that at “Heir 2 The Throne” which will take place from the Action Indoor Sports, Bristol on Saturday, April 9th we will now see Drew Galloway defending his TNA World Heavyweight Title against Eddie Dennis. In other matches for the night; Jack Gallagher will take on Johnny Kidd in a Mountevens Rules match, Mike Bird will face ‘The Mexican Sensation’ El Ligero in a Falls Count Anyway match, ROH World Champion Jay Lethal will put his title on the line against Mark Andrews, King Of Chaos Champion ‘Wild Boar’ Mike Hitchman will take on Jeckel once more in a Tables match and Ian Williams, Gideon, Eddie Ryan, Panda Cub, Alex Steele, KillBane & Chuck Cyrus will all compete in the Heir 2 The Throne Ladder match.

PROGRESS Wrestling will see the first match from their PROGRESS Atlas Championship Round Robin Tournament happen at “Chapter 28: Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” at The O2 Ritz, Manchester on Sunday, April 10th when Big Daddy Walter takes on T-Bone from Block A. The rest of the card looks like this; F.S.U. (Mark Andrews & Eddie Dennis) challenge The Origin (Nathan Cruz & ‘The Mexican Sensation’ El Ligero), Ashton Smith and Damon Moser will complete in the Natural PROGRESSion Series Semi-Final, there will be an Open Challenge from Champion Marty Scurll to anyone of the PROGRESS roster, ‘Flash’ Morgan Webster takes on Mark Haskins, Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) will take on The Dunne Brothers (Pete & Damian) and Toni Storm will be in singles competition against Jinny.

At “Chapter 29: Practically In Every Way” which will be held at The Electric Ballroom, Camden, London on Sunday, April 24th Damo O’Conner will take on Michael Dante and Joe Coffey will face Rampage Brown in the Block B matches of the PROGRESS Atlas Championship Round Robin Tournament. It was also announced that they will hold two matches as part of WWE’s Global Cruiserweight Series but as of writing this we don’t know who will be part of it and how many will be involved.

The team of Sweet Jesus (‘Pastor’ William & Chuck Mambo) will take on The Dazzler Team (Darrell Allen & Earl Black Jr) in a 30-Minute Iron Man match and ‘Wild Boar’ Mike Hitchman will face Paul Robinson in a Chain match. All this and more will take place at “ENDVR:16” The Garage, Islington, London on Sunday, May 15th.

In the last instalment from the PROGRESS camp this week, we will see the winner from Block A and Block B of the PROGRESS Atlas Round Robin Tournament face each other to crown a new champion. Not only that, we will see Zack Sabre Jr take on Tommaso Ciampa in what will be another exciting match with each winning one a piece, who will win the rubber match and bragging rights? Keep an eye out for more matches to be signed for “Chapter 36: We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Room…Again” which will be held at the 02 Academy, Brixton, London on Sunday, September 25th.

British Empire Wrestling & Stardom have now added tag team action to their “International Grand Prix” Day 3 show which happens on Sunday, May 22nd from The Tooting Tram & Social Club, Tooting, London when Toni Storm & Dahlia Black take on the World Of Stardom, Godesses Of Stardom & Artist Of Stardom Champion Io Shirai & Kairi Hojo. Not only that, we will see Danielle Hunter take on current Wonder Of Stardom Champion Santana Garrett in the 1st Round of the International Grand Prix Tournament. We will see an 8-Man Tag Team match featuring Team BEW (Kyle Ashmore, Theodore Powers & The Commonwealth Alliance (Gianni De La Valette & Don Pedro)) vs The Buffet Club (BEW Heavyweight Champion Rob Cage, Lance Lawrence and Tag Team Champions Gene Munny & Stingray Stevenson) with the stipulation that if Team BEW win then The Buffet Club will disband but if The Buffet Club win then they will have control of BEW’s “Coronation Of The Empire 2” show on Sunday, July 10th. Announced to appear; High Speed, Godesses Of Stardom & Artist Of Stardom Champion Mayu Iwatani, BEW Women’s Champion Nixon Newell, Kay Lee Ray, Dragonita, Kirsty Love, Woman Wrestling Stars Champion Diosa Atenea & Alpha Female.
