An Interview Kymmie A. Kiss

Added by Matt Clarkson

Kymmie A. Kiss has a background in burlesque and is also the current holder of BECWs Women’s Championship.

For the people that aren’t familiar with you, could you please introduce yourself?

Well, I’m Kymmie A. Kiss from London, England. I’d best describe Kymmie as brash, brazen and bratty, I can be very devious, a thinking women’s wrestler. As sweet as sugar but you know what they say about sugar, it rots your teeth.

How did you get into the world of wrestling and where and who trained you?

I originally grew up watching wrestling; I’d watch events with my dad. It opened my eyes up to strong assertive women. As I got older and started to watch more, especially the independent scene, I thought “That’s for me”. I’ve trained with various companies, taking in as much information from them as I could, whilst working out myself with different fitness and stamina routines.

Now, whilst working for BECW, I’m also learning more under their training school under the guidance of guys like Billy Duffy. I still feel like any wrestler can grow, I like to feel like I grow with every match I have, every opponent I face.

As well as being a wrestler, you’re also a burlesque dancer, do you feel any of the skills as a dancer have helped you transition to wrestling?

Yes, of course. Doing burlesque was a much needed confidence boost, it helped me learn performance and balance. I feel that burlesque has a place in the wrestling world because it can be very over the top but also much grounded in style, execution and sexuality as performance art.

Do you remember your first match and looking back, can you be critical of it?

It’s easy to be critical of any match with the benefit of hindsight. My first match was a 15 minute inter gender match that personally went as well as it could do for a debut match. I feel like I’ve developed my character and my style to suit me more as a person, than how I was at my debut. But looking back, it was a pretty solid match that I am very proud of.

Is wrestling something you hope to do for the foreseeable future or is it something you just wanted to try?

Quite honestly, there is nothing else I want to do. If I could continue to perform, I would be a very happy girl.

America and Japan are famed for the women’s promotions including Shimmer, Ice Ribbon, WSU, Stardom, Shine etc. Is that your aim to work for companies such as those?

No. I wouldn’t want to ever limit myself to companies that focus on women’s wrestling because I feel women’s wrestling has a place within any company. Having said that I love Shimmer, and I love Shine, they are amazing companies. To work for them would be an honour; it would also be a privilege to work with their talent.

Bellatrix is one of the premier promotions for women’s wrestling (where you’ve competed previously), could you see yourself headlining an event there?

As you say, I previously worked for Bellatrix and loved their set up. As for headlining, that’s not really for me to say. I would like to think that I could maybe one day headline a show for them; wrestling is an ever changing business, so you never know who is going to be on top at any given time.

You’re currently the Women’s Champion at BECW, how does it feel that the company trust you enough with holding the belt?

It’s an honour. Along with being very happy about being champion, I’m also aware of the responsibility of being a champion. I want to repay BECW’s trust in me by becoming the longest reigning and most dominant BECW women’s champion of all time.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

To continue working, continue to improve myself and spread my name. I want to attend more events and check out the other talent within the UK at the moment because first and foremost, I am a fan. However, I am very focused on the next couple of shows I have coming up.

Is there anything else you’d like to say, add or plug?

Thank you for your questions. I would like people to be able to find me at the following:
