The Birth Of Canada’s Canuck Pro Wrestling

Added by Kurt Johansson

There is a new wrestling company and they’re called Canuck Pro Wrestling! Canuck Pro Wrestling is a company based out of Canada and will be making their debut in November. In this article we will be promoting Canuck Pro Wrestling’s debut shows, Battle For The Belt on Friday 17th November and There Can Only Be One on Saturday 18th November, both of which will be held at the Highland Park Community Centre, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Battle Of The Belt and There Can Only Be One will involve Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero M. Both guys have made a huge name for themselves over the past couple of years in AAA and Lucha Underground and are now showcasing their ability all over the world in companies such as PWG and WCPW and will be part of the birth of Canuck Pro Wrestling. Others that will be featuring at these two shows are; Keith Lee, Eddie Kingston, Dick Togo, Jeff Cobb, Joey Ryan, Mia Yim and much more.

Below are the announced cards for Canuck Pro Wrestling’s first two shows.

Canuck Pro Wrestling – Battle For The Belt – Highland Park Community Centre, Calgary, Alberta, Canada (17/11/17)

Battle For The Belt will feature the first rounds of an eight man tournament to crown the first ever Canuck Pro Wrestling champion. The eight competitors announced for this tournament are; Chuck O’Neil, Dave Crist, David Starr, Dick Togo, Eddie Kingston, Jeff Cobb, Keith Lee & Rey Fenix.

The first round matches will include the following:

– Keith Lee vs Rey Fenix

– Eddie Kingston vs Dick Togo

– Jeff Cobb vs Chuck O’Neil

– Dave Crist vs David Starr

I am expecting all these first round matches to be great, however if I have to pick out one match in particular it would have to be Keith Lee Vs. Rey Fenix who I expect will put on the perfect big man-little man wrestling bout.

Another match on the Battle For The Belt card is Jake Crist vs Joey Janela in what is being promoted as a tournament reserve match. This tournament reserve match will see the winner be a stand in for the next round if some unforeseen circumstances arise with the semi finalists at their second show the following night ‘There Can Be Only One’.

Penta El  Zero M will be in action at the event, other none tournament matches that will be featured are the following;

– Chelsea Green Vs. Joey Ryan

– Mia Yim Vs. Sumie Sakai

– The Besties in the World (Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett) Vs. Monster Mafia (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander)

– Xtreme Tiger Vs. Aero Boy

– Penelope Ford Vs. a mystery opponent

Canuck Pro Wrestling – There Can Be Only One – Highland Park Community Centre, Calgary, Alberta, Canada (18/11/17)

There Can Only Be One will feature the semi finals and finals of the eight man tournament to crown the first ever Canuck Pro Wrestling champion. As previously mentioned the eight competitors announced for this tournament are; Chuck O’Neil, Dave Crist, David Starr, Dick Togo, Eddie Kingston, Jeff Cobb, Keith Lee & Rey Fenix.

The brackets will see the following Semi Final matches:

– Dick Togo/Eddie Kingston vs Chuck O’Neil/Jeff Cobb

– Rey Fenix/Keith Lee vs Dave Crist/David Starr.

This tournament sets up some great matches as they set on their way to crowning their first ever Canuck Pro Wrestling champion. I would be interested in seeing Jeff Cobb vs Keith Lee in the final, however Jeff Cobb vs Rey Fenix would also be another great final. That being said, with the 8 competitors announced, the tournament is set to have some great matches whoever advances through to the finals.

Not only will CPW crown their first ever Canuck Pro champion at ‘There Can Be Only One’, but they will also be crowning Canuck Pro’s Women’s champion as their will be a gauntlet for gold. The gauntlet for gold will be including Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, Penelope Ford, Sumie Sakai, Taya Valkerie, Veda Scott and some unannounced talent that will be in this match.

Other matches on this card are the following:

– Penta El Zero M vs Xtreme Tiger vs Aero Boy

– Joey Janela vs Joey Ryan

– The Besties In The World (Davey Vega & Mat Fitchett) vs Monster Mafia (Ethan Page & Josh Alexander)

Without a weak link on the card, I think the triple threat match between Penta El Zero M, Xtreme Tiger & Aero Boy will produce some great, fast paced lucha action and could easily be the match of the night for those in attendance. Also the gauntlet to crown the first ever CPW Women’s champion should be a great match with some of the most talented women’s wrestlers involved in the match.

As you can see Canuck Pro Wrestling have some great matches scheduled for their debut shows in November and I advise anyone in the Calgary, Alberta, Canada area to check out these shows, support the company as hopefully this will be the birth of another great independent wrestling company. For those of us that can’t attend the show live, make sure you keep an eye out on ways to watch these shows online or on demand.
