This coming weekend is the biggest weekend in wrestling every year: Mania Weekend. It’s where fans all across the world come together to bond and watch some great professional wrestling. It is a time to meet new friends and meet your favorite wrestlers. There are so many events you can go to. This will be my first mania, and if you’re like me, you have a hard time choosing what promotions and shows to go and see. There is so much that there should be some guide so that you know what to do during the weekend. I will give you that guide with my opinions and what I will be going to watch.
Thursday I arrive in Dallas. I am staying at the Econolodge by AT&T stadium. I am doing nothing Thursday as I will be to tired. If you an aspiring wrestler, I would check out the WWN training seminar. It is being held at Eddie Deans Ranch, as is all the WWN shows, and you can get tips on how to be a wrestler and in ring work and even get a tryout. I think it’s one hundred bucks and it’s well worth the money if you want to be a wrestler.
Friday, I will be sight seeing for the first half of the day. There are events friday during the day though. WWN has some minor shows at Eddie Deen’s Ranch. I would check those out if you don’t want to go sight seeing. You could also go to Wrestlecon convention. This is an annual convention during Mania weekend where you can meet wrestlers, wrestling legends, and wrestling personalities. I will be going saturday but I know friday has Shawn Michaels and some other stars that won’t be there saturday. If you are busy saturday, go check this out. Then at 4 PM, I will be going to the EVOLVE show. I have never watched or been to an EVOLVE show. I am excited since they have some great matches scheduled and awesome wrestlers like Drew Galloway, Johnny Gargano, Timothy Thatcher, Will Ospreay, Ethan Page, and many more. I would recommend this show if you are going to no other WWN show. I am then going a block down to the NXT Takeover show. But, I won’t discuss that since I don’t view it as an Indy.
Saturday is my big day. I will be at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Dallas all day. I will first be meeting wrestlers and getting autographs and merch the first half of the day. I’m excited to meet wrestlers like Ospreay, Kurt Angle, Carlito, and many other wrestlers who I view as my favorites. You may even meet me there. Look on Twitter or Facebook or Direct Message me on either site and I’d love to meet up with some fellow fans. I will then be going to the ROH TV taping there in the ballroom. Some matches advertised are Kyle O’Reilly vs Adam Cole in a No Holds Barred Match. That should be awesome. A ⅔ falls match between Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong. That should be a wrestling technical match for the ages. And a four corners tag team match between the Young Bucks, Addiction, ReDRagon, and MCMG. That will also be amazing as all those tag teams are exceptional. That will be awesome. Then saturday night is the Wrestlecon supershow. Some of the matches on this show are lifelong friends Matt Hardy and Lance Storm, who is coming out of retirement, squaring off. A monsters ball match with some awesome wrestlers like Jeff Hardy and AR Fox. Then, we have a luchador Trios match with some luchadors off Lucha Underground. But the one match I’m looking forward to seeing is, for the first time on american soil, Will Ospreay vs Marty Scurll. I am excited for that. Especially since they are tag teaming for WWN Mercury Rising show an hour before their match starts. That means double duty but if anyone can pull it off, these men can.
Sunday, before the big show, I will be at Mania Crawl. It is this great event where fans meet together and do a pub crawl before mania. It gives money to Connor’s Cure to help with research for a cure to cancer. It is a great cause and I would recommend that if you like drinking, and who doesn’t, to go to at least one of the bar’s and buy a beer with me.
I will then be leaving Monday morning, having crossed a few things off my bucket list.
That is mania weekend for me. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience your first mania weekend. I am excited to go and meet fellow fans and catch great wrestling. If you are also going, hit me up on Twitter or Facebook and we can meet up and hang out. This has been Motley’s Mic Drop and I’ll catch up with you in two weeks.
